Legacy & Alumni
- Founded: 1819, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari district
- Named after: Septimus Scott, who generously contributed towards school buildings
- First English-medium missionary schools in South Travancore (now Tamil Nadu)
- German missionary Rev. William Tobias Ringeltaube (London Missionary Society) – initiated the school
- Rev. Charles Mead – architect of the school, relocated it from Mylaudy to Nagercoil
- Expanded through the 19th & 20th centuries: more classes, higher standards, improved infrastructure
- 1906–1926: Leadership under notable headmasters like Paul Daniel, gaining distinction in the district.
- Associated with the missionary tradition, promoting education for broader communities and social change
- 1819: School established
- Late 19th/early 20th century: Prominent district school under notable headmasters
- Present: Operates as a higher secondary school with modern facilities, maintaining over 200 years of heritage
- Today serves thousands of students, up to Class 12
- Known for academic excellence and sports achievements
- Part of the missionary education movement, opening opportunities to underprivileged communities
- Recognized as a heritage and landmark institution in Nagercoil & Kanyakumari district
- One of the earliest English-missionary schools in Travancore
- Contributed to educational upliftment and social transformation
- Alumni, students, and the community value its heritage, traditions, and revival efforts

School Infrastructure Development Plan
Hostel Improvements
- Renovation of hostel bathrooms and toilets to ensure hygiene and usability
- Renovation of hostel buildings, dining hall, and kitchen facilities
Water & Sanitation
- Provision of safe and clean drinking water for all students ( Mr.Y.Eban assured to sponsor)
- Construction and upgrading of adequate toilet facilities for school children
Classroom Development
- Renovation and whitewashing of 33 classrooms
- Estimated cost: ₹8,000 per classroom
- Total estimated cost: ₹2,64,000
Main Building Restoration
- Structural renovation of the school’s main building roof
- Restoration of Heritage Stone Structure
- Restoration and preservation of the original stone architecture of the main building
- Estimated cost: ₹3,50,000 (One well wisher contributed Rs.1.2 lakh for front wall and foundation wall )
Campus Infrastructure
- Renovation of the compound wall
- Proposed to plaster with stone tiles to reduce recurring maintenance expenditure and improve durability
Laboratory & Facility Upgradation
- Modernization and renovation of:
- Physics Lab
- Chemistry Lab
- Biology Lab
- Computer Lab ( courtesy : M/s Hurricane vet charitable trust contributed Rs.1 .50 lakh) Library Room( Rs.53450 was already contributed )
Transportation Facility
- Purchase of a 27-seater school van to support student transportation needs ( Rs.7 lakh was contributed by alumni out of required 22 lakh)
Science Block
- Renovation and regular maintenance of the science block to ensure safe and effective learning conditions.(courtesy: Mr.David Thilak wilson family)
Sports Infrastructure
- Renovation of the football ground and athletic track to promote sports and physical development
Building Maintenance
- Whitewashing of:
- a. Paul Daniel Block
- b. Dr. Jeyasekaran Block
- c. Renovation of flooring
- d. Renovation of school stage with public address system
Conclusion
This comprehensive development plan aims to improve academic infrastructure, student well-being, sports facilities, and heritage conservation, while also ensuring long-term sustainability and reduced maintenance costs.
